Happy New Year, everyone! We’re kicking off 2018 with auditions for Thoroughly Modern Millie next week (Monday-Wednesday). Here’s the info I sent out before break:
All-call auditions will be January 8 and 9 3:00-5:00. Choose one of those days to attend. Please remember to dress comfortably with shoes you can move in; we will teach you some dance steps and have you dance in small groups at the audition. Audition music materials for Thoroughly Modern Millie are posted outside the HS band room. The song titles are linked to the reference recordings on YouTube. You should prepare the following:
Female Principal
If you would like to be considered for all female roles, prepare the excerpts from the two songs in the folder: “Only in New York” and “Jimmy.” You will sing each song at your audition with me accompanying on piano. Be careful, the recording for “Only in New York” is three half-steps lower than the key we’ll be using.
Male Principal
If you would like to be considered for all male roles, prepare the excerpts from the two songs in the folder: “What Do I Need With Love” and “Speed Test.” You will sing each song at your audition with me accompanying on piano.
Male/Female Ensemble
If you would like to be cast as ensemble and considered for featured speaking/singing/dancing roles, then prepare “Speed Test” for your audition. You will sing in a group with me accompanying on piano.
