Congratulations to those who received roles and to everyone who auditioned last week! If you do not see your name, don’t worry – you are still in the show. There are few minor roles still available, as well as farmers, cowboys, townspeople, dancers, and more. Please be sure to initial by your name to accept your role.

Our first full cast rehearsal will be scheduled in the New Year. I will mail scripts to principal and supporting cast members within the next few days. Congratulations to everyone, and have a wonderful holiday break!

Oklahoma!

This year’s spring musical will be the American classic, Oklahoma! Even though this show isn’t as “current” as Drowsy or Chaperone, the themes of love, jealousy, family, home, and hope are just as relevant as when Oklahoma premiered. This show is truly timeless, and our job – as always – is to use our wide array of talents to tell this story in an unforgettable way. I’m really excited to get started – but first, auditions!

Auditions will be held from 3:00-5:00 on December 17th and 18th. Only attend one of these days. If you audition, you will definitely be a member of our cast – we do not cut any performers. When you prepare to audition, you need to decide if you want:

  • Ensemble Only – this is the basic audition. Sing “Farmer and the Cowman” with a group.
  • Supporting – Choose one of the audition songs for your gender and sing solo, accompanied by the piano.
  • Principal – Sing both audition songs for your gender and sing solo, accompanied by the piano.

Depending on your singing audition there may be an opportunity to perform a reading from the show, either at the audition or at callbacks. Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, feel free to listen to the following audition excerpts to help prepare. Also, check out the 1999 London cast of Oklahoma! to get a basic feel for the show. We’re making a lot of different choices with characters, sets, and dancing, but the overall story will remain unchanged.
