Drowsy Chaperone

Last Thursday we announced the Greenville Spring 2014 musical will be The Drowsy Chaperone. Since I first saw this show – (Broadway, front row) – I’ve been looking forward to the year we could perform it at Greenville. After last year’s multiple-award-winning performances of Monty Python’s Spamalot, we knew our students and production team were ready for something new, challenging, and really fun. When it opened in 2006, Drowsy was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards (including best musical), and walked away with Best Original Score (music) and Best Book of a Musical (script).  Drowsy has received rave reviews from productions across the world, and there is even a 2014 film in the works starring Captain Barbossa and Wolverine.

It’s very common we announce musicals that the students may not have seen previously. Part of what makes this program so strong is the actors’ education that takes place during the process; that education begins now. If you don’t know the show – read the synopsis, listen to the Original Cast Recording on Grooveshark or Spotify, and read the packet Mr. Katagiri put together.

If you’re considering auditioning, make sure you sign-up for an audition slot ( 11/19 or 11/20) and that you are available in the event we need to see you at callbacks on 11/21 (3:00-5:00). You will need to sing to audition for all supporting and principal auditions. Principals sing both songs appropriate for your gender; supporting auditions choose only one song. The selections are:
